On Friday June 4th the fastest street cars and bikes came back to Milan Dragway for the third of our Team Z Motorsports Heads Up Street and Bike race.  The weather wasn’t as good as the race before, but the track was prepped and ready to go when it came time to race. Brad (Tyson) Huewagon did about 1/8th mile wheelie’s almost everytime and Trace Myer’s car hooked every time with the suspension Team Z Motorsports put in it. After 7:30 we started first round of eliminations starting with the Team Z Motorsports Street category.

We didn’t have the full 16 car field, but enough to keep the excitement. There was a breath taking moment when semi’s came during third round of eliminations. Second pair down was Jim Munson against Tim Johnston. Cars took off towards the 1/8th mile and Jim’s car got out of control. Luckily both Tim and Jim have both good driving skills and neither car got damaged!

Finals came towards the end of the night. The track conditions worsened because of the colder air passing through and dew starting to settle in. The Milan crew did their best to keep it hooking up and it showed in the finals. It came to Tim Johnston and Mike Farrell both racing off with Ford Mustangs. Cars staged, nitrous on and off they go. At the eighth mile cars were close with a 5.79 and a 5.29, but once they crossed the finish line Mike Farrell was the champion second race in a row.  Mike would like to thank his sponsor Skinny Kids and Ross Stomp for helping him get the car down the track with the help of Tilden and Steven Sweeney.

In the Bike Head’s Up Race there was a lot of competition. There were nine cars in the field after qualifying.  All of the bikes ran at least 10 seconds and the fastest running in the eights.  Round by round racers got knocked out until it came down to round 4, when it was down to the semi’s. The first one out was the bye run going to Rick Livy with his Custom Cycle Works sponsored 2003 Suzuki. Rick had a slow reaction but picked it up and finished at the quarter with a 11.061 at 135.20 mph. Next pair was Shane Ratliff in the left and Phil Stoll in the right. At the finish line Phil went through first knocking Shane out of eliminations. Finals came and it was Rick in the left against Phil in the right. Bikes shot off the starting line and at the eighth Phil pulled ahead and took the win with a 8.565 at 166.15 mph.
