HEADS-UP NIGHT

Holbrook Racing Engines 10.5
Outlaw
It was another great year to start off the Team Z Heads-Up Friday’s. The sun was
shinning, barely any wind and the spectators kept filling the stands. For the
first Holbrook Racing Engines 10.5 Outlaw class there were not enough cars to
fill the 16 car field. However there were enough cars to fill the stands for an
exciting show! The cars battled it out through the qualifying rounds. Some cars
needed all three qualifying rounds and some only needed one to be set for the
race. Disappointment came at the end of qualifying when Trace Meyers was making
his first and only qualifying pass. Trace took off the starting line and half
way down trouble came. His wheel and axel came out of the rear end. He was able
to get the car stopped without hitting the car next to him or the wall. At the
end of qualifying, Dan Millen and his Livernois Motorsports sponsored Ford
Mustang took the LD Motorsports low qualifying spot with a 7.596 at 192.39 MPH.
In first round of eliminations “Bucking” Brad Tyson lined up against Tim
Johnston and staged the cars. With the tree activated, Brad came off first and
stayed ahead of Tim all the way down going into next round of eliminations. At
the end of first round of eliminations there were only 4 cars not in the race.
At the fourth round of eliminations, it was down to the final between Dan Millen
and Jeremy Glass. Both cars ran great through the night even with the
temperatures beginning to drop. Dan lined up on the Varsity Ford left lane and
Jeremy pulled up into the F.A.S.T. right lane. Both drivers pre-staged, but
neither would stage. Nearly two minutes went by, before Glass bumped into the
beams. The tree came down and Jeremy came off the starting line first with a
.016 light, Dan following behind with a .039 reaction. Excitement came when Dan
Millen pulled ahead and took the lead down by the 1/8th mile. Dan
crossed the finish line first with a 7.539 at 191.47 MPH and Jeremy Glass slowed
it down and crossed through at 8.910 at 109.98! Millen was unstoppable, it did
not matter what lane or track temperature, he went 7.90’s at 190 plus MPH!

Kemp and mega wheelstanding Nova took the LD Motorsports Low E.T. Bonus with a

track to run a 8.98 at 148 mph! At this point he had the he had the field
covered by .5 seconds. In the semi-finals, Butch was running Jim Wojda and his
1984 Mustang that has been running 9.4’s. Kemp red lights by -.002 seconds
giving the Ford the win light. In the finals, we had Andrew Dart with his new
