In
2009, the Summit
SuperSeries is
back with the
same format that
caught the
attention of all
IHRA member
track
competitors in
2008. Each
participating
track’s champion
will race
champions from
other tracks to
determine the
“Elite 8” field
of Box and No
Box finalists
for the World
Championship
race.
Each track
champion will
square off at
the Summit Team
Finals in their
respective
division. The
champion of the
race will earn
their way into
the eight-car
field of
finalists that
will again race
for the Summit
World
Championship
during the IHRA
World Finals in
Rockingham,
North Carolina
on October
22-25, 2009. The
World
Championship
race will be
held during
Sunday’s final
professional
eliminations,
will be filmed
by Speed Channel
and seen when
the IHRA World
Finals airs on
Speed in the
fall.
There have also
been provisions
made for
divisions that
run the Summit
Team Finals
after the World
Finals is over,
and for tracks
that are
geographically
unable to attend
a team final to
ensure that no
one is excluded
from the
program. This
program will
crown a true
World Champion
from the ranks
of the local
grassroots
racers at the
more than 80
IHRA member
tracks
All Summit
SuperSeries
track champions
that do not
attend a Summit
Team Finals due
to distance are
eligible for an
end of the year
lottery. One
lucky winners
will be drawn at
the end of the
program from any
category will
win the right to
join the “Elite
8”. All
qualified
entries will
receive
$1,000.00 tow
money from
Summit. All
entries must
tech in at event
to receive tow
money. The race
for the Summit
World
Championship
will be run on a
¼ mile format.
The “Elite 8”
will be run on a
ladder, where
the division 1
champion runs
division 9
champion,
division 2 East
champion runs
division 2 West
champion,
division 3
champion runs
division 5
champion and
division 4
champion runs
the lotto
winner. If a
bike or sled
qualifies, they
will run against
cars. Payout
will be; Winner
$10,000.00,
Runner Up
$7,000.00,
Semi-finals
$2,000.00,
Quarter-finals
$1,000.00 for
Box and No Box
classes. Summit
will also pay
cash prizes to
the first two
places at each
